According to Brazilian health authorities the increase in cases of contagion, hospitalization and death in the country would be due to variant P1 or Amazonas (more virulent and aggressive) especially in the state of Sao Paulo where it would have caused ninety percent of cases while in the rest of the country the Brazilian variant has become predominant. With over three thousand hundred victims in one day Brazil is approaching four hundred thousand deaths due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and therefore in second place after the United States, while the cases of contagion were almost eighty thousand in a day with a total of over fourteen million five hundred thousand. In the meantime an attempt is being made to develop a vaccine manufactured entirely in the country without having to import components from abroad, although it will be necessary to wait for the authorizations and the various stages of testing on volunteers before actual use.
