A friendly interlocutor made of artificial intelligence

Many people choose to have a friend through an application supported by artificial intelligence; it seems that these so-called chatbots are truly realistic and capable of understanding the interlocutor's most intimate needs and seems that it's not just a simple projection of what one wants to hear but rather a sophisticated system that engages in real-time dialogue, adapting to the person by understanding their needs and responding in a way that simulates human interaction. Naturally it is pure illusion and the application is designed to be human-like skillfully exploiting the vulnerabilities of the specific person, a sly and very convincing companion (definitely to be avoided without a second thought); moreover one must not forget that it is certainly not environmentally friendly as every simulated response undoubtedly requires a significant polluting energy demand.
