Study on temperatures and microplastic release

Many studies have focused on how many microplastics are present in water, but all liquids that are consumed contain them, in particular it seems that coffee, tea, drinks, juices, and energy drinks significantly contribute to reaching the daily amount of these unhealthy microplastics. A connection between temperature and microplastic release has also been observed with hot tea showing the highest concentration, and heat appears to accelerate this release from the plastic packaging materials of the product (the tea bag had previously been noted). It is necessary to evaluate total exposure to microplastics from all beverages to have a more complete picture if one does not want to underestimate the actual level of exposure.
