Declared emergency for Ebola epidemic in Congo and Uganda
It would be an emergency with potential risk for neighboring countries regarding the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, with eighty-eight victims and over three hundred suspected cases according to international health organizations, although borders should not be closed since it does not meet contagion criteria comparable to a pandemic like Covid (the aim is to activate controls for a health event considered serious and it requires coordinated interventions and an international response). A case has been confirmed in the Congolese capital Kinshasa about a thousand kilometers from the epicenter of the first outbreak in Ituri province and a possible further spread is hypothesized; then there is mention of a suspected case in North Kivu province one of the most populous in Congo and near Ituri. Vaccines are not available for this new Ebola outbreak.
