Closure of Uganda borders with Congo due to Ebola risk

The suspected cases of a rare Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus in Congo are almost a thousand, with at least two hundred and twenty suspected deaths, and the Ugandan authorities have decided to close the borders since the number of people exposed to the virus has increased, however apparently this decision is not in accordance with the guidelines of international health agencies. Crossing the border will be allowed only in emergencies including in response to potential virus outbreaks, and authorized people will have to undergo twenty-one days of quarantine. Therefore, the strategy is to trace and isolate Ebola contacts. Some say that perhaps time was lost allowing the virus to spread unnoticed also due to a lack of funds, additionally conflicts in the area make everything more difficult; in the Democratic Republic of Congo there is talk of unpreparedness rather than protection against this type of outbreak.
