Architectures designed to mitigate heat waves

To cope with increasingly frequent and prolonged heat waves it will be necessary to design houses, apartment buildings and entire neighborhoods with architectural criteria that can help keep temperatures down; in France in Montpellier apartments without air conditioning with white façades featuring numerous Middle Eastern-style curves almost always managed not to exceed twenty-five degrees Celsius. Not as successful in Bordeaux apparently is the design of houses in a new neighborhood that turned into ovens during the forty-degree heat wave. Generally in many cities there aren't enough green spaces and buildings too close together tend to trap heat; so ventilation should be encouraged in addition to using natural and eco-friendly insulating materials in construction.
