Two strong earthquakes in Venezuela
There would be at least one hundred sixty victims and one thousand injured due to two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.4 with the epicenter west of the Moron community about one hundred seventy kilometers west of the capital Caracas, there are reports of many collapsed buildings and authorities have declared a state of emergency while waiting for a clearer picture of the situation, with concerns about the death toll rising. Panic-stricken people flooded the streets (messages were sent later to stay calm) and rescuers are now digging through the rubble looking for people trapped under the collapsed buildings. To report on a different note but still related to natural events the recent heatwave in Japan described as "cruel" with temperatures reaching forty degrees Celsius in some areas of the country.

Heatwave in the Mediterranean Sea
Surface temperatures monitored in the Mediterranean Sea are warmer than usual for this time of year with peaks especially along the coasts of Spain, France and the upper Adriatic this could favor a sort of biological invasion by invasive species some of which are sometimes toxic and particularly voracious, then fishermen have long been complaining about the difficulty of dealing with the situation. Shifting the focus to another aquatic environment dozens of victims in Europe (for example over forty in France and five in Germany) due to people swimming in rivers to cool off given the scorching temperatures caused by an African-type anticyclone that persists and moves very slowly, the high pressure traps hot air for several days which tends to remain in place creating a type of extreme phenomenon that is becoming increasingly frequent.

Very hot weather in France with half the country under red alert
It could be a record-breaking summer in terms of heat in France and now the weather forecasts are predicting peaks of forty-three degrees Celsius in the city of Bordeaux in the southwest and thirty-nine in Paris with people complaining about the heatwave and the inevitable inconveniences. Of the fifty-one heatwaves recorded since 1947, two-thirds have occurred since 2000 with about half of those in the last ten years highlighting just how pronounced the ongoing climate warming is mainly caused by the (reckless) consumption of fossil fuels; there are also reports of two victims in Carpentras in the south of the country, two children found dead in a car in scorching temperatures. The African high-pressure system is affecting various European countries, particularly Spain which has been experiencing a suffocating heat for days, for example with thirty-nine degrees in the capital Madrid.

Flooding in some municipalities of Alberta in Canada
Heavy rainfall from a low-pressure system has affected some municipalities in Alberta in Canada causing floods, waterlogging and problems for many water facilities that became practically unusable, then a severe thunderstorm with a downpour hit West Island in Montreal leaving hundreds of residents with flooded homes and more than twenty-one thousand households without electricity across the great Montreal area. There are reports of people evacuated, roads impassable, inconveniences for the population with various requests for help and authorities suggesting staying informed to deal with the situation. Recently in Manitoba two tornadoes caused flooding, particularly affecting the Stonewall area with damage to crops and inevitable complaints from farmers finding their fields flooded.

France dealing with the African high-pressure system
Due to the influence of an African high-pressure system over much of Europe, temperatures are rising well above the average for this time of year. In France, they’re talking about the second heatwave in a month, and the weather forecasts are predicting temperatures of forty degrees Celsius or even higher tomorrow in several towns, causing inevitable discomfort for the population and the cancellation of some events, then the output of three nuclear power plants will be reduced because of the high temperatures in the Rhone and Garonne rivers whose waters are used to cool the reactors. In Italy the situation isn’t much better with various heat warnings in major cities, then very low levels in the Po river also about eight meters below normal and low snow reserves on average in the mountains compared to previous years.

Don't dismantle the ocean monitoring network
With over nine hundred sensors the United States ocean monitoring network has allowed in the past decade to track ocean circulation, the marine ecosystem, and extreme climate change events, providing free data to the public and useful for scientific publications (also processing the collected data with computers); so the decision to extend the project's duration for another fifteen to twenty years will allow continued climate monitoring, then a group of experts will decide on the network's future. To report changing the topic but staying on technological themes that some warnings proposed regarding the proper use of microwave ovens, for example apparently it happened that some little girls seeing videos on social media put soft toys filled with gel in the microwave to heat them; but they ended up getting burned.

After a fire fungi restore the soil
Certain fungi are able to feed on the toxins left in the soil after a fire, making it ready for new plant growth, at least according to a Canadian study that highlights their importance especially with climate change and consequently large fires of these fungi come in colors like orange, purple and brown that are fire-loving (pyrophilous) able just weeks after a fire to turn ash-like soil into favorable environmental conditions. Fungal spores seem to stay dormant until activated by a fire that raises soil temperatures very high, but just a few centimeters below the surface the temperature drops significantly allowing them to act. Gaining a better understanding of these fungi could be useful in keeping ecosystems healthy.

Earthquake on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia
A 6.7 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter about forty-three kilometers east-southeast of Palu and twenty kilometers deep reportedly caused at least one death, dozens of injuries, damaged buildings and infrastructure; rescuers are then searching for any people trapped in the rubble. In Palu the capital of Sulawesi people took to the streets and several hospitals evacuated patients. There are reports of traumatized people because the quake was strong and they feared aftershocks; a hotel was also evacuated with frightened guests, even though there was no significant damage. Changing the topic but staying on natural phenomena a heatwave is expected in Italy due to an African-origin high-pressure system with temperatures that could reach forty Celsius degrees in areas of the Po Valley, Tuscany, and Puglia.

Ban on social media for kids in the UK
British authorities have imposed a total ban on social media use for under-sixteen-year-olds starting next spring, arguing for instance that it makes kids unhappy, makes them targets for ill-intentioned people and can even harm their mental health. The first to take such measures were the Australian authorities last year deleting four million profiles registered by kids through biometric verification, then Spain which still has to approve the rules regarding bans, France with a ban for under-fifteens maybe from September; finally proposed limits of just one hour of social media use from ages eight to sixteen in China. Some argue that we need to prevent kids from finding ways to sign up for social media platforms by lying about their age or using other tricks.

Increase in confirmed Ebola cases in Congo
There are reported to be seven hundred and eighty-two confirmed cases of Ebola in Congo, with one hundred and eighty-one deaths due to the rare Bundibugyo strain, at least according to Congolese health authorities who also state that the number of cases could be higher because the virus probably was spreading unnoticed for weeks before the Ebola outbreak was confirmed in mid-May in the eastern province of Ituri (where ninety percent of the total cases are recorded), then they also mention a fifty-six percent coverage for monitored contacts; fifty-six people are hospitalized with a typical death rate of twenty-three percent. Some argue that mining activities especially for gold and environmental disruption in the Congo Basin could contribute to spreading deadly diseases due to contact with wild animals, possibly bats in the case of Ebola.

Discussions on a temporarily resolved Alzheimer's case
After living with advanced Alzheimer’s for about ten years resulting in memory loss, speech and movement difficulties, no bladder control, an eighty-year-old woman temporarily recovered after a high dose of psilocybin (about nineteen hours after administration) a natural substance found in certain types of mushrooms. In the following days her vital functions apparently improved, she was able to walk better, dress herself, smile and look family members in the eyes recognizing them, with remarkable improvement in bladder control since she had suffered from incontinence for years. Researchers warn that this is just a single patient without a control group, so caution is needed and the brain hasn’t actually healed; only temporary reconnections in the brain occurred.

Adapting to face extreme weather events
May temperature data in Europe show how we quickly went from a period that was quite cold compared to the average to an intense heat wave caused by an African high-pressure system, so according to researchers this demonstrates how fast extreme events are becoming the new normal rather than rare exceptions. This has a significant environmental impact leaving little time for people, crops, and ecosystems to adapt to much higher temperatures, with peaks of thirty-five to forty degrees across large areas of Europe and even sea temperatures were practically at record levels. Since with the influence of the global "El Nino" current it's likely that significant extreme events will occur between June and August some recommend preparing to face them properly.

Coastal infrastructure threatened by flooding
Extreme flooding in coastal areas is becoming increasingly frequent due to rising sea levels, for example events that were historically rare with only about a one percent chance of occurring in a given year are now estimated to have increased roughly twelvefold, there’s also talk of up to four times more extreme events of this kind due to warming caused by human activities. Important infrastructure located in coastal areas can be significantly impacted even by a small rise in sea level. Mangroves are expanding again after decades of retreat
Mangrove forests in coastal areas of the planet allow the survival of millions of people by countering climate change promoting a healthy ecosystem and enabling various activities ranging from fishing to tourism and satellite images would show that after decades of decline due to human development and extreme events they are expanding thanks to safeguarding and conservation initiatives, but in practice it seems that this surprising result is more due to the ability of mangrove forests to withstand human impacts than to the efforts made to protect them. Among the important functions performed by mangroves is the protection of coasts from erosion and storms so deforestation must be stopped because they remain vulnerable, then having young mangrove forests is not the same environmentally as the role carried out by the original ones.

E-cigarettes are unhealthy for young people's lungs
In a test conducted on twenty year olds who had smoked e-cigarettes for three years (and not traditional cigarettes or other unhealthy types that young people sometimes smoke) it emerged that their lung and heart functions were not exactly healthy, at least according to a Canadian study which highlighted that even though the measured parameters were generally normal, many subjects showed a tendency to experience shortness of breath during exercises thus greater dyspnea. E-cigarettes were initially introduced to the market to help people quit smoking, but they have become a kind of trend among young people and this is concerning because the lungs do not fully develop until around twenty-five years of age. Exposure to toxins at a young age impairs proper lung development and predisposes to lung diseases.

Slowing down the development of artificial intelligence
Increasingly advanced computer models of neural networks supported by generative artificial intelligence are showing signs that it could be difficult for humans to keep them under control, at least according to statements from the developer of a well-known AI chatbot based on a computing platform in San Francisco U.S., who claims that it is useful to slow down or pause the global race in developing technological AI structures (mainly present in the U.S. and China). It seems that a global coordination mechanism is necessary in order to make difficult decisions regarding development within a framework of international competition and geopolitical pressures. The development of generative artificial intelligence is already supported by the same "thinking" artificial intelligence, so it seems clear that it is dangerously getting out of hand.

Increasingly powerful data centers under construction
In many areas of the world data centers are under construction to support generative artificial intelligence applications of much higher power or scale than that of the normal data centers used until now, they are very large structures, full of cables and connections that require large amounts of energy and water to cool the boards on which the chips that support powerful neural networks are mounted; therefore complaints about noise and the impact on the territory are not lacking, then these soil-consuming structures also cause heat islands that influence the climate at a distance due to the heat released by the computers' heat exchangers. Some complain that areas where energy is cheaper and can be generated from renewable sources are often becoming the least suitable for locating these large data centers.

Staying in shape to prevent Alzheimer's
Adopting a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and adequate physical activity to promote cardiovascular health could be useful in preventing Alzheimer's disease, which slowly deprives the affected person not only of memory and the ability to carry out daily activities but also often forces family members to take full-time care of the patient. Some say that one in eight people over the age of sixty-five could be forced to live with Alzheimer's, a kind of pandemic, also due to the increased longevity in the population. Staying active through social activities, learning to play a musical instrument, practicing meditation daily, exercising the mind with reading and continuing to stay informed could help reduce the incidence of the disease.

Protecting the health of trees and preventing fires
Climate change characterized by periods of low rainfall followed by others with heavy rain and even thunderstorms, undermines the health of plants due to diseases and pests, then these withered plants can promote the spread of fires; some say that there are areas of the world where fires destroy trees at a faster rate than that required to replace them. Once the sapling of a new tree is planted it finds itself in an ecosystem substantially different from the previous one, so species that can adapt and are also resistant to various diseases should be chosen, then the health of the humus plays an important role in promoting rapid growth, for example to regenerate a forest; otherwise there is a risk of having trees that grow with difficulty and dry out leading to a vicious cycle concerning fires.

Global warming in the next five years
Due to the greenhouse effect it is expected that temperatures in the Arctic will increase more than in other regions of the planet resulting in a rise in sea levels, affecting global currents that influence climate systems and causing severe extreme events especially in northern areas of the world. In general over the next five years global warming could reach temperatures of almost two degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial period, the window for action on global temperatures is closing rapidly, but this does not mean that it is impossible to intervene even if the one-and-a-half-degree increase limit established in the Paris climate agreements is exceeded. It seems that there will be a strong "El Nino" from this winter which may persist into next year, generally it lasts from nine to twelve months and tends to increase temperatures.

Pigeons may orient themselves using the liver
From studies carried out in the past it was generally thought that birds oriented themselves by looking for a kind of magnetic trace through light-sensitive molecules in their eyes or located in the beak or inner ear, but now German researchers may have found an organ unexpectedly as the liver. Specialized immune cells near the nerve fibers of pigeons' livers break down red blood cells by accumulating iron. Apparently if birds are temporarily deprived of these cells they can no longer orient themselves in flight; therefore the iron in the liver may help find direction like a magnetic compass in addition to using the Sun as a navigation guide transmitting signals to the brain. Researchers are looking for these functions in other animals although other hypotheses and parameters such as distance and specific destination also need to be considered.

Closure of Uganda borders with Congo due to Ebola risk
The suspected cases of a rare Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus in Congo are almost a thousand, with at least two hundred and twenty suspected deaths, and the Ugandan authorities have decided to close the borders since the number of people exposed to the virus has increased, however apparently this decision is not in accordance with the guidelines of international health agencies. Crossing the border will be allowed only in emergencies including in response to potential virus outbreaks, and authorized people will have to undergo twenty-one days of quarantine. Therefore, the strategy is to trace and isolate Ebola contacts. Some say that perhaps time was lost allowing the virus to spread unnoticed also due to a lack of funds, additionally conflicts in the area make everything more difficult; in the Democratic Republic of Congo there is talk of unpreparedness rather than protection against this type of outbreak.

Estimates on the duration of Ebola outbreak in Congo
The Ebola virus has probably been spreading unnoticed for weeks and now there are about six hundred suspected cases and at least one hundred thirty-nine suspected deaths from the Bundibugyo strain, which is rare and currently has no available treatments or vaccines; at least according to statements from international health organizations that estimate the outbreak in Congo will last at least two months. Some say that the contagion cases have been substantially underestimated; at first it was thought to be other diseases when in fact it was a strain of Ebola considered worrisome for various reasons requiring accurate testing in specialized laboratories and these specific health technical characteristics can hardly be adopted quickly with already present outbreaks. Ebola is a highly contagious virus and is transmitted through bodily fluids.

The risk of large hantavirus outbreaks remains low

Loss of biodiversity worsens human health
Human health, nutrition and overall well-being would be threatened by the decline of pollinating insects due to habitat loss and climate change (as well as pesticides and intensive agricultural practices); in fact, these insects are indispensable for the production of fruits, vegetables, and legumes that provide essential vitamins and minerals for a balanced diet, leading consequently to an increase in diseases and deaths. Researchers conducted a study monitoring ten villages and surrounding areas in Nepal for over a year, finding for example that pollinating insects contribute over twenty percent to the intake of vitamin A, folate and vitamin E. The relationship between pollinating insects and humans is fundamental if we want to protect the health of the ecosystem and humans, for which purposes it is useful to plant flowers, reduce pesticides and protect bees.

Surveillance on isolated hantavirus cases
For the moment the risk of potential hantavirus epidemics remains low at least according to the opinion of health authorities who have however increased the level of surveillance on suspected infection cases that came from a cruise ship traveling from Ushuaia in Argentina to Cape Verde, with three victims and nine confirmed cases of infection. The condition of a French woman hospitalized in Paris with a positive hantavirus test has worsened; the symptoms appeared during the transfer flight to the hospital; the virus apparently has a mortality rate between thirty and forty percent, does not spread easily probably through respiratory means or saliva droplets and has a long incubation period. Vigilance is necessary in case of potential virus mutations which could adapt to spread as sometimes happens with this type of virus.

Search for climbers on an Indonesian volcano
Rescuers who are searching for climbers affected by the recent eruption of Mount Dukono (about one thousand eighty-seven meters high) in North Halmahera - North Maluku have reportedly confirmed one victim while two other people have been located although it is not known if they are still alive, search operations carried out also with the help of drones equipped with thermal cameras have been hindered by the continuous eruptions and potential landslides. An investigation is underway into why the tour company organized the climb despite the ban; in fact, it seems that due to the continuous eruptions the authorities had imposed a climbing ban since 2024 for what is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the country; then now for Mount Dukono an alert was issued and all activities within a four-kilometer radius crater were prohibited.

Volcanic eruption in Indonesia
Three climbers are being searched for missing on Mount Dukono in northern Halmahera - Maluku in Indonesia due to a massive volcanic eruption that produced a smoke column about ten kilometers high with dense volcanic ash, authorities have also evacuated some people, then other eruptive phenomena occurred. Also in Indonesia due to bad weather and intense hydrometeorological events that affected North Sumatra in the past two weeks there is talk of a landslide that caused three fatalities on a highway. It is worth noting changing the topic but remaining on natural phenomena that researchers have recognized as the second highest tsunami ever recorded the one that occurred last summer in a fjord in southeastern Alaska caused by a huge landslide of about sixty-four million cubic meters of rock falling into the sea in less than a minute.

Floods in Saskatchewan in Canada
Due to the rapid melting of the abundant previous snowfall floods occurred in Saskatchewan in Canada resulting in a state of emergency being declared for thirty-five communities, there is mention of evacuations and authorities provided equipment to face the floods as well as personnel to manage closed highway sections and assist motorists dealing with accidents caused by water on the road. Among the floods to be reported is the one that occurred in sections of the Carrot River with significant damage in the flooded areas particularly in the Pasquia Golf Course. Difficulties for farmers who in many areas had to suspend the spring seeding after a fluctuating period regarding the rise in prices of fuels and fertilizers used in cultivation activities.

Andes strain of hantavirus found on cruise ship
Health authorities have confirmed that it would be an Andes strain of hantavirus that can be transmitted from person to person (usually spread by rodents), identified on a cruise ship that sailed from Ushuaia in Argentina to Cape Verde and which prompted investigations regarding this rare infection. Three people were transferred from the ship for treatment, including the ship's doctor (whose health conditions have improved and are stable after initially being described as serious), and a new case is suspected. In the coming days the ship will dock in Santa Cruz on the Spanish island of Tenerife and the passengers will be repatriated. It is really very different from Covid and very from flu, low the pandemic risk; transmission occurs through close physical contact such as in a little cabin of a ship and disinfection measures have been taken with passengers isolated in their cabins.

Floods in Somalia and bad weather in Italy
There would be at least ten victims in Somalia due to floods following unusually heavy rainfall, with reports of rivers of water in the capital Mogadishu forcing people to move partially submerged and in some neighborhoods the ground floors of houses have been submerged; the death toll could probably rise since authorities have not yet managed to get a clear picture of the situation. As for Italy a wave of bad weather has mainly affected Tuscany and Liguria regions, where there have been cases for example of evacuations, tornadoes, cloudbursts and a lightning strike hit a house burning its roof; in general, temperatures have dropped considerably in the North and snow-covered areas were not lacking in the Alps; then there were various weather alerts in some regions also for possible hailstorms.

Investigations on hantavirus cases on a cruise ship
A cruise ship traveling from Ushuaia in Argentina to Cape Verde triggered health investigations due to three victims of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, with three people sick, one of whom is in critical condition; in fact, there are questions about how the virus could have spread on the ship and in Cape Verde was not given permission to disembark by local authorities due to the potential risk that the virus could infect the local population. Apparently the virus has a rather long incubation period and the passenger initially infected on the ship likely contracted it before boarding. It is also noted that investigations are needed to verify that adequate preventive measures were adopted. This is a virus for which there are no cures or vaccines so early diagnosis and subsequent medical intervention are necessary.

A volcano erupts in the Philippines
Alert in the Philippines for the eruption of Mayon volcano near Albay, a stratovolcano with a characteristic conical shape considered the most active among the twenty-two volcanoes in the country and responsible for about fifty eruptions in four centuries, there is talk of thousands of evacuations in an area south of Manila; then ash and debris reached Bicol, over fifty villages affected by the eruption which caused the formation of a high column of smoke over four thousand meters that darkened the sky. It is worth noting changing the subject but remaining on naturalistic topics that in Canada many people are complaining about the increase in allergies (particularly in Vancouver and Victoria due to tree pollen), as usual climate changes with increasing CO2, pollution, and even light pollution lengthen the pollen season and make it more severe.

Mexico City is sinking at high speed
It appears that Mexico City is experiencing ground subsidence visible even from satellites and measurable at about twenty-five centimeters per year; according to researchers, this is one of the highest rates in the world, posing structural problems that are difficult to solve for this metropolis of twenty-two million people and one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Using large amounts of water pumped from the underground to meet the needs of Mexico's capital has significantly lowered the water table, resulting in a chronic water crisis that can only worsen; for example damages are noted to the metropolitan cathedral built starting in 1573, to the subway, to the sewers, to the entire system of pipes that provides drinking water and requiring careful monitoring of the situation.

Moringa seeds clean water of microplastics
An extract from moringa seeds, a plant known to be very nutritious and healthy, according to researchers would be excellent for purifying drinking water from microplastics as well as common chemical components, then seems that moringa trees have been known for their water purification properties since the times of the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians and now studies are being conducted to see if this is due to a kind of coagulating effect that allows microplastic particles to stick together and then be filtered. The tiny particles one micrometer in size of microplastic result from the progressive fragmentation of plastic polluting various environments from the oceans to the mountains and can for example cause tissue inflammation; in animals reproductive and hormonal problems have been observed.

High average temperatures in Europe with areas of drought
Last year at least ninety-five percent of European regions reportedly monitored above average temperatures with Great Britain, Norway and Iceland recording their warmest average year according to a climate report that emphasizes how since 1980 Europe would be overheating at twice the global rate making the continent that is warming fastest on the planet. Heat waves are reaching increasingly high temperature peaks in addition to being more frequent, and currently the situation does not seem very favorable in this climatic sense with ever-expanding areas of drought. To report on a different note but still on natural topics floods in southern China, with areas hit by heavy storms and town centers flooded forcing people to move partially submerged in water.

Pirates in jacket and necktie
By now the traditional image of the pirates organizes in groups from corsairs armed of guns and knives to the cingula have yielded the step to the new predator dressed in jacket and necktie that is annoying the web (bandits that unload entire site and they identify the protection keys, steal the symbols, musics..), even with one name of all security that hides the deceit to before the tacking of click. As an example writing "salutary.eu" on a famous search engine between the entrance connections to the site www.salutistico.it, others do not authorize links appear between which also one to those in order to unload freewares, but that practically they turn out to payment through Dialer. Attention to the pirates, exploratory of the web Internet, sails in sure waters; in fact the Demo of the program "Well-being Body - Mind - Soul" deposited that it enjoys all the copyrights can unload free from my salutary.eu Internet site or salutary.eu compiling the appropriate card of recording (and subsequently with relative password communicated) and I dissociate myself from the use of my software to payment for whichever site different from the mine. To notice unfortunately that also writing "salutistico.it" for the original site, are visualized links truculent or trap. - Lately is disappeared the intere site from some search engines.. (that evidently could use the same criteria of selection).
