Double cataclysm to end age of the dinosaurs

There is speculation that a double cataclysm is the cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs that before were weakened by a huge volcanic eruption in India and then wiped out permanently fifty thousand years later by the impact with the Earth of a huge asteroid into what is now identified as Gulf of Mexico; in fact analyzing the composition of fossil shells researchers spotted two distinct peaks about a significant increase in temperatures. It is thought that due to the release of large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere the temperatures in the Antarctic Ocean climbed several degrees centigrade, making it melt even the icebergs and with planetary changes, then the disastrous impact of the asteroid gave the so-called coup de grace to the dinosaurs. Previously it had been noticed that dinosaurs were dying out at a faster rate than that necessary for restocking.

Curious behaviours of macaques to the study

Is possible to analyze the individual personalities of macaques to have signs in general on economic behavior, at least for the opinion of researchers in Canada who would have studied at a temple in Bali the curious habit of some monkeys (documented in different parts of the globe) who steal objects to tourists, then barter with the unfortunates of the food in exchange for the return of stolen property; but sometimes the haggling does not end with the first offer and continues until the animal does not receive the liking food. The macaques proves to be rather audacious coming to take the sunglasses of tourists waiting for negotiation begin, not have an aggressive behavior and is remain amazed that sunglasses stolen not have a scratch. It is thought that there might be some human influence in this behavior but then spread like cultural attitude.

An air conditioner made with plastic bottles

Recycling plastic bottles is possible make a simple air conditioner, at least according to a Bangladesh inventor that claims that can lower the temperatures from thirty to twenty-five Celsius degrees in the hot country homes and thereby enhancing the feeling of well-being with a difference of about five degrees. To make the conditioner just cut the plastic bottles in half and spilled on a rectangular panel mounted with the neck of the bottles toward the panel and then we proceed to install this panel out of a window; in practice due to the expansion of hot air that passes in the necks of the bottles towards the open wider the air cools as this happen when the gas expands rapidly. It is easy to build, not consumes energy, is easy to find materials and can improves the living conditions of the Bangladesh population.

Is thought to be billions planets suitable for life

After the discovery with a small telescope along just sixty centimeters in Chile, but made by astronomers in Belgium, of three new perhaps potentially habitable planets that revolve around a dwarf ultra-cool star at thirty-nine light years from Earth, researchers speculate that planets like Earth may not be quite as unique and there might be in the Milky Way billions of planets suitable for life. For the moment with the current technology provides the distances do not allow to reach them (thankfully saw how man is reducing the Earth) and for example a spaceship would take about tirty thousands years to bring the astronauts on one of the new planets discovered. To make this type of research on new planets is record the intensity of the light emitted by the star and verifying any changes can roughly calculate the mass, distance and times of revolution of the planets.

A medicine experienced in Australia for Alzheimer's

For the first time is try to stop or slow to five to ten years the progression of Alzheimer's disease before dementia manifests using a new innovative medicine in a clinical trial of large proportions made in Australia. With a brain scan was done to verify the presence of amyloid plaques considered responsible for disease in volunteers participating in the experiment; then is proceeded to select a group of one hundred individuals, a half of which will be given an antibody and other medications to eliminate amyloid plaques, while the other half a placebo to perform audit checks. Treatment is aimed at correcting that sort of jamming mechanism leading to the degeneration of the brain, whereas for the time being have not yet been found effective treatment although some argue that the real cause would be a faulty gene.

New theory about the extinction of dinosaurs

It was thought that the extinction of the dinosaurs was caused by a huge asteroid that hit the Earth about sixty-six million years ago from a point identified currently as Gulf of Mexico, but British researchers claim that were already declining tens of millions of years before the impact from the space of the rocky body decreed the final order. The dinosaurs were dying out at a faster rate than that sufficient to maintain the population of these large reptiles that had dominated the land; moreover apparently the long-necked sauropods were undergoing a fast decline, while it was more gradual in the theropods (group of the famous Tyrannosaurus). It is also obvious that the situation of the dinosaurs is similar to that of many species that now are dying out because of climate change caused by man and are exposed to a possible final annihilation.

Study on the migration of butterflies

Monarch butterflies are the only insects that migrate covering long distances and to rebuild that kind of biological compasses in their nervous system that allows to the charming moths always follow the same route, from Canada to Mexico with two months of flight, American researchers have observed how neurons of the antennae and eyes pick up environmental changes during the trip and discovered that the route is calculated on the basis of the height of the Sun and by a kind of daily clock. This would be a circuit based on these two types of signals that allow to the butterflies with mathematical calculations to adjust enlarging and shrinking, figuratively, a compass in a map so as to correct the route thanks to neurons that process the signals captured from antennas and eyes like a navigator who assists throughout the migration.

Return to Spain of the manuscripts of Timbuktu

The ancient manuscripts which are famous for the elegance of the various volumes and exhaustive discussion of a large number of disciplines before being transferred to Timbuktu were part of the library of the mosque of Toledo in Spain, then because of the conflicts between Muslim and Christian the books were taken in West Africa to save them by religious intolerance. Now apparently after over more five hundred years for the same reason they returned to Spain; in fact Mali where is the city of Timbuktu, legendary because it was once an important center where traded gold and slaves [...], has been invaded in 2012 by Islamic military groups. Had already been informed that about two thousand of three hundred thousand texts had been burnt in 2013, but overall it was a small loss though not negligible since the books are historical documents as well as being interesting at cultural and scientific level.

Palmyra thankfully less damaged than expected

An estimated a period of five years to repair the damage caused by the conflict that still is upsetting the lives of the inhabitants of Syria to the archaeological site of Palmyra, a town also known as the "Pearl of the desert" and of undeniable charm. Hard to tell what is the real situation (are still carrying out the de-mining of the area and damage assessment), it seems that the triumphal arch symbol of the city is still standing and is missing only the left part of the vault, then approximately eighty percent of the entire site is in good condition apart from two classics temples and several tower tombs, perhaps intact the Roman amphitheatre that continues for paradox from antiquity to be used for public executions. Some argue that although overall the city, which is protected heritage of humanity, appears in good condition were destroyed or stolen many precious archaeological finds which are untraceable.

Date to remember for the Greek Pi

This day lends itself well according to some to celebrate Greek Pi; in fact if round to four decimal places get 3.1416 and then match month, day and year for a date that should help to remember this famous constant ratio between the area of a circle and the square of its radius; but much simplifying since now with the computer calculates a Greek Pi with thirteen trillion digits. Archimedes came to an approximate calculation of Pi by calculating the number of regular polygons inscribed and circumscribed to a circle showing that 21/7 < Pi < 22/7 and typically is using the right 22/7 allowing to have with relatively small integers an approximate value in excess the relationship that we will use for various calculations. To note in addition to the fact that this relationship is almost always under normal observations that it is an irrational number.
