Harmful effects of air pollution

Air pollution has harmful effects on the body to a greater extent than previously thought, at least according to a report by international organizations that highlights how ninety percent of the world's population already lives in areas where there is at least one dangerous air pollutant; moreover, a picture has been drawn up of the health consequences of the six main pollutants in the air. It is estimated that seven million people lose their lives every year due to pollution (against four million seven hundred thousand in total for the 19-nCoV pandemic) in addition to affecting the health of millions of individuals every year, then air pollution is now comparable to other global risk factors such as improper diet and tobacco smoke; moreover, a parallel has also been made with global warming and the impact of fossil fuels.

Many more victims due to smoking than to Covid

It is estimated that in 2019 well over seven million people lost their lives due to cigarette smoking and related causes, so many more than because of the SARS-CoV-2 virus; but apparently no one talks about vaccines that allow to get rid of this unhealthy vice considering that even those who do not smoke often fail to protect the respiratory tract from the passive smoking of the many people who do not comply with the prohibitions (without considering children and young people who can hardly protect themselves by moving easily like adults). Among the most affected countries China with over two million four hundred thousand victims counts thirty percent of the total followed by India, with over one million and the United States with over five hundred thousand. Of note changing the topic the increase in 19-nCoV infections monitored lately in the United States and Israel that can be linked to the virulence of the Delta variant.

Effects on the body of heat waves

It is estimated that heat waves on the planet will become more and more frequent with a large number of people (especially the elderly, frail and with pathologies) who will lose their lives due to suboptimal temperatures and in particular researchers focus attention on hot nights with over thirty degrees Celsius in the environments; in fact, subjects who suffer from cardiovascular problems, asthma and respiratory diseases may not be able to rebalance body temperatures and the homeostatic mechanism, a bit like what happens to air conditioners that if subjected to mechanical stress accumulate too much frost frozen outside until they stops working. Animals and plants do not escape this reasoning, so measures should also be taken to protect the ecosystem from heat waves, for example by identifying the areas most at risk.

Choice of plants for mini gardens

To improve air quality and well-being, increase biodiversity and the aesthetic appearance of cities, attract useful pollinating insects many decide to buy seedlings for a mini garden; but some say that to be sustainable there should be a careful choice since often seedlings are imported with very polluting air flights, wide use of pesticides also not allowed depending on the country of production (sometimes even harmful to health) without considering the slow-release chemicals that generally serve only aesthetic purposes. Needless to say to beautify balconies and gardens it is better to prefer seedlings from certified supply chains that in some cases also indicate the type of pesticides and the environmental impact of cultivation plants and the use, for example, in greenhouses of photovoltaic panels and other ecological solutions.

Smokers risk 19-nCoV complications

Comparing the data of those infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus a study would have found that smokers risk severe symptoms and complications that can be linked to contagion in higher percentages and for a longer period of time. Among the various symptoms monitored and aggravated by cigarette smoking would be coughing for a long time, feeling burning in the chest, loss of smell and taste as well as muscle aches, confusion, diarrhea, fatigue even until the impairment of vital functions since smoking reduces the ability of the immune system to respond and lung capacity, already compromised by Covid-19. The risk figures in general are high given the pandemic numbers with over eighty-five million people infected worldwide and one million eight hundred and fifty thousand victims.

New Delhi in the grip of nCoV and pollution

Record of 19-nCoV cases monitored day by day (most recently over six thousand eight hundred) in the Indian metropolis of twenty million inhabitants New Delhi that at the same time records high levels of tiny particles, so much so that a thick whitish and unrespirable hood covers the capital of the country with the aggravation of low temperatures and stagnant air that traps the pollutants. Health authorities say that worse air quality makes people more vulnerable to Covid-19 coronavirus, thus increasing cases of contagion and aggravating patients' medical records; do not help agricultural practices in the area with the habit of burning dirt, then it is feared that the fireworks used in abundance on the holidays will turn the color of the sky from gray to a putrid yellow.

Hand washing in anti-nCoV function

When compared to the flu virus that remains active on the hands for less than two hours, that of the Covid-19 coronavirus with nine hours would seem to have a significant survival rate, at least according to tests carried out by Japanese researchers with autopsies a day after the death of SARS-CoV-2 patients on skin samples. This could be one of the explanations why the virus spreads so quickly and therefore the need to wash the hands thoroughly, considering that a common sanitizing solution containing ethanol inactive both the flu virus and the nCoV virus in fifteen seconds. It should be noted by changing the argument that a well-known antiviral drug initially formulated for Ebola and approved for treatment 19-nCoV seems to have little or no effect when compared to other available drugs (some always of doubtful effectiveness).

Air the premises to avoid the 19-nCoV contagion

The exhaled viral droplets that can spread the infections remain suspended in the air for a long time, some even say hours forming a kind of cloud of particles, water vapor or aerosols that can disperse simply by airing the premises, then opening the windows so that a consistent airflow is formed (possibly blocking the doors) and make the viral load decrease a bit as happens figuratively when diluting the toxic liquid in a glass adding fresh water; mechanical ventilation of air conditioners is less safe since the virus may nest in the filters. A previous study for example showed that ventilating the premises decreased the transmission of tuberculosis by seventy-two percent, which also helped fans in these cases.

Analyze oysters in anti-19-nCoV function

According to the opinion of French microbiologists, oysters act as filters by incorporating contaminants present in seawater, so by their analysis it is possible to identify whether traces of Covid-19 coronavirus can be detected in the sea sections on the monitored coasts; in fact, for example, in the summer periods many people bathe and could become infected if the sea water is contaminated for example due to some sewage discharge, then this type of investigation could be useful in the case of a second wave of the virus allowing to keep the epidemic under control. To report changing argument the unhealthy and grotesque situation revealed by the media in a slaughterhouse in Germany where a serious outbreak of the virus has been found and should also lead to a rethink of meat eaters and the consequences of food choices on public health.

Preferred masks that contain copper

Masks can make a difference in the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus and perhaps allow to avoid ending up in intensive care even if should choose the most efficient ones, at least in the opinion of researchers who argue that those containing copper are to be preferred (several companies have begun to produce them). In practice this metal would have antimicrobial properties and most viruses, bacteria and pathogens seem to be neutralized in a few hours of contact on a copper surface. In any case other precautions should also be taken in addition to masks such as glasses, gloves and to proceed to the accurate disinfection of objects that are frequently touched, then above all nothing should be dispersed in the environment.
