Low storage capacity for CCS plants

It is estimated that globally that if carbon capture and storage (CCS) plants were used at full capacity they could store around one thousand four hundred tons of carbon dioxide much less than previously thought (twelve thousand billion tons), at least according to researchers who point out that it could only slightly reduce global temperatures compared to what was believed. The use of these plants was suggested because merely reducing emissions was not enough to meet the set goals and that other technologies needed to be utilized, but CCS evidently functions inadequately without considering that they consume an enormous amount of energy in addition to being very expensive; then they could be an excuse to continue exploiting fossil fuels instead of investing in renewables and sustainable.
