Investigation on deepfake videos on social media platforms
A nonprofit organization reportedly identified over sixty deepfake videos on well-known social media platforms, primarily targeting the seniors, promoting fake government spending cards and healthcare payment, reaching tens of thousands of platform users and even using the U.S. faces of well-known personalities. The phenomenon of deepfakes is generally increasing worldwide and it appears that in the so-called dark web, these videos, created using generative artificial intelligence that was once very expensive can now be ordered at low cost. Another issue to highlight is the intent to use, for example, fake actors in videos driven by artificial intelligence with a high degree of realism, following a more or less successful series of presenters, then voices and music of artificial singers, in addition to texts of all kinds and from every cultural sector.
