New materials that adapt to climate change

It has long been well known that climate change challenges all materials and it is not surprising that in France, periods of intense heat followed by periods of heavy rainfall could apparently cause structural damage to twelve million homes and that homeowners are trying to protect themselves at least against the most expensive repairs. Developing new materials that adapt to climate change could be useful not only to prevent structural damage to homes but also to ensure the safety of important infrastructure, then for example even in the road sector with road surfaces subjected to strong temperature variations, downpours, hailstorms and gusts of wind a solution should be found to sometimes avoid having to do a sort of risky "slalom" between potholes.
