The risk of large hantavirus outbreaks remains low

According to statements from international health organizations there are currently no signs that large hantavirus outbreaks may occur although the situation could change due to the virus's long incubation period and it is possible to monitor cases in the coming weeks. Some say that perhaps the issue is a sort of mental attitude because it recalls memories of events related to Covid, but experts argue that the hantavirus scenario is very different and no mutations can be seen from the analysis of genetic sequences that could suggest transmission similar to that occurring with coronaviruses, measles and influenza. Vigilance as always should remain high keeping healthcare systems in good working order since with climate change potential pandemics are possible.
