Ban on social media for kids in the UK

British authorities have imposed a total ban on social media use for under-sixteen-year-olds starting next spring, arguing for instance that it makes kids unhappy, makes them targets for ill-intentioned people and can even harm their mental health. The first to take such measures were the Australian authorities last year deleting four million profiles registered by kids through biometric verification, then Spain which still has to approve the rules regarding bans, France with a ban for under-fifteens maybe from September; finally proposed limits of just one hour of social media use from ages eight to sixteen in China. Some argue that we need to prevent kids from finding ways to sign up for social media platforms by lying about their age or using other tricks.
