Children very vulnerable to climate change
It has long been observed that children are particularly sensitive to new unhealthy environmental situations caused by climate change, for example in summer with higher temperatures since their whole body—and especially their respiratory tract—is closer to the ground compared to adults the air they breathe could be dense with a scorching chemical mixture of pollutants, ozone and fine particulate matter that tends to settle near the ground and now some warn that mental health issues are increasing. Children have immature immune and thermoregulatory systems, generally breathe quickly and if there are vehicles around their noses are closer to exhaust fumes; then in the case of fires that can affect vegetation even in distant countries wind-transported particulate matter ends up worsening air quality even further.
